A facility has completed a major equipment retrofit, leaving their storeroom with unused spare bearings for the old machinery.
When manufacturing lines or heavy equipment are upgraded, the MRO storeroom is often left with spare bearings that no longer fit any active machinery. Instead of allowing these unused parts to take up valuable shelf space, facilities can recover capital by liquidating them. We review lists of surplus bearings left over from equipment retrofits to determine their secondary market potential.
Not all leftover spares retain value. The recovery potential depends heavily on the condition of the bearings and their original packaging. We consider selected unused inventory that has been stored properly in climate-controlled environments. Bearings with intact factory seals, clear part numbers, and no signs of environmental degradation are the most viable for recovery.
To begin the evaluation, provide clear photographs of the bearing part numbers, packaging condition, and a general count of the surplus items.
